OVC Media Day Live Stream
Got a hot cup of coffee handy, and I'm ready for the live stream of the OVC Media Day from Nashville. Here's a link to the Web cast page at the OVC Web site:
I'll be posting updates throughout the 45-minute session, on the comment page for this post. Click here to follow along, and to post your own thoughts.

Live stream is now active. SO far we're just looking at a banner that reads "OVCSports.tv"
Time to pour a second cup. Hope I don't miss anything.
While we wait for the video to start, here's a little reading: This thread over at anygivensaturday.com is a discussion of SoCon.tv, which apparently is a similar setup the Southern Conference has for video. From the discussion, it sounds like they just point a camera at the field and stick that video on the Web. No audio, no commentary, no other angles, not even a scoreline. Yikes.
My clock reads 8:31. Oughta be rolling any minute now. Still looking at the banner, hung over a mural-photo of Tennessee Titans players.
Here we go ...
Hosted by a local radio personality ...
Indroducing Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. Impressive resume. :)
Audio and video quality are good. Dr. Jon introduces the league's new head coaches, and the APSU coach.
There's a rule change, on change of posession, the clock will begin as soon as the ball is blown in play. Should knock 5-7 minutes off game times, he says.
Update on the 12-game legislation ... despite the support of I-AA, it failed at the NCAA level. An override initiated by the OVC, now going back to the board of directors for another vote next week.
Dr. Jon says the OVC has initiated legislation that would give I-AA conferences more representation in matters that affect I-AA.
Sounds like he's talking about a minimum number of schollies for playoff-eligible teams ... wants it at 50.
Also wants a post-season for the low and non-scholly teams.
Now talking about OVCSports.tv. XOS senior VP Dave Olmstead ... "It will give you the opportunity to see and be seen anywhere in the world."
Back to Dr. Jon ... sharing an Arnold Palmer story. Got an gift from an Arab prince who he designjed a course for. He'd asked for a golf club ... got a private golf club in Switzerland instead. Dr. Jon uses that as a metaphor for the I-AA Championship.
'We may not get there this year, but we very well may."
Hello to ekumaroon, by the way. Anyone else following along?
Coaches heading to the lectern now ... a second camera angle ... cool.
Jack Crowe's the last one to his seat. Bob Spoo introduced as the dean and the coach of the defending champs.
Spoo: "If we're going to be sucessful we're going to have to be a lot better than we were last year."
Danny Hope of EKU ... the moderator mentiones Greco's return. "We're excited about Josh coming back ... we expect big things from Josh this year."
HOpe says there's a lot of parity in the OVC. Think the league has improved alot over the last three years.
Jack Crowe's turn. His JSU team opens at Furman.
Video's hanging up a bit now. Crowe needs to talk into the mic.
"We're somewhat of an unkown team ... a team in transition." He mentions the changes at QB.
He thinks the OVC is making strides in being able to compete nationally. EIU and EKU have stepped it up, he said.
Moderator mentions Clay Green. Crowe says he's comfortable there. New QB, new OL, new receiver corps.
"We're going to find out what we're made of quick."
Matt Griffin of Murray State (late of UT-Martin):
"We've got some young kids coming in ... we're a very average club right now, there's no doubt about that."
Looking forward to the UT-Martin game? "No, I'm not."
SEMO's Tony Samuel.
Moderator mentions the Nebraska connections on the staff ...
Video & audio are hanging on me now ... (missed the last coach)
"I'm not looking at the national championship ..."
Video & audio hanging bad.
Looks like they've moved onto TSU, but I can't hear anything.
I can see Jame's Webster's face. It's not moving and I can't hear anything.
I've got a good cable Internet connection. I wonder how much of the I-AA world is logged onto this stream?
At least I know it's not just me, ekumaroon.
Still looking at James Webster, but someone else is talking, in fits and starts. I'm going to kill this window, and try loading it up again.
Wow, that didn't help.
I've got little blips of adiou now, and no picture whatsoever.
Someone's great "great exposure."
You're right, ekumaroon, this certainly isn't a good ad for XOS so far. Hopefully they will get the bugs worked out.
Tried killing the window and starting over again. Still no help.
