Poll positions

Two I-AA polls are out after Week One action, the official I-AA poll from The Sports Network and the fan poll from AnyGivenSaturday.com.

TSN has Eeastern Illinois at #20 and Eastern Kentucky at #23. EIU fell six spots after a 42-17 loss at I-A Illinois (Illinois State, meanwhile, climbed two spots to #7 after lossing 24-23 to Kansas State). EKU fell three spots after the Colonels 31-0 loss at the hands of Cincinnati. Jacksonville State had 38 points in the "others receiving votes" category after a narrow loss to Furman (now #4, formerly #5) in the final minute, up from 24 points in the preseason. Murray State, which had 6 points in the preseason poll, got no votes after the Racers' 47-7 drubbing by Missouri.

In the AGS poll, EIU also dropped to #20, from #15. EKU went to #25 from #24. JSU received six votes in the poll.

The OVC maintains its count of two teams in those top 25 rankings, but both the Panthers and Colonels apparently will need to win Saturday to remain ranked. EIU entertains the aforementioned Indiana State, and EKU hosts rival Western Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass. The OVC's best shot at a third team in the poll, JSU, has the weekend off before beginning leage play against Southeast Missouri State Sept. 16. A win in that one likely wouldn't get the Gamecocks any more consideration, unless it was very lopsided.
