Here's what's up online today in papers covering the OVC.

The Anniston Star says the JSU coaching staff is headed to Alabama's Lake Martin for a three-day retreat to get their plan for camp in order. Head coach Jack Crowe makes a little more noise about the need for higher pay for his assistants to plug the "leak" of departing coaches. Also, the Gamecocks are waiting on grades to see if outside linebacker LeMarcus Rowell will play, and to see if cornerback Montavis Pitts, who is leaving Auburn, will arrive the first day of camp Aug. 11

The (Mobile, Ala.) Press-Register today has a profile of one of the OVC's new game officials, Mobile resident an personal injury attorney Dean Waite. Waite comes to the OVC from the SWAC, and apparently hopes this won't be his last job.

"The Ohio Valley Conference and the SWAC are very similar because they're both Division I-AA," (Waite) said. "Both of the conferences have quality athletes with good speed. The difference comes in between your Division I-AA and I-A programs like the SEC and ACC, where the players get bigger, faster and stronger," Waite said. "My goal is to make it to a BCS conference."
