Sunday papers

Here's what's online about the OVC from newspapers on Sunday:

The Southeast Missourian runs down head coach Tony Samuels' plans for the first day of camp at SEMO. The heat's a concern, he says.

Gadsden Times columnist Jimmy Smothers says Jacksonville State head coach Jack Crowe isn't worried about his players as camp begins. It's the the coaching turnover that's got him concerned.

The Anniston Star I got the old fashioned way this morning (ink on paper, delivered to the box in front of my house) has a story on JSU's star running back Clay Green, who hopes to improve on his breakout performance last season. The paper's Web site, however, doesn't have the story, or much of the local content from the sports section. If they add it, I'll link to it.

The Journal Gazette/Times-Courier has a column from sports editor Brian Nielsen. He shared his ballot for The Sports Networks' pre-season top 25 poll. He's got two OVC teams in the top 10, Eastern Illinois at #9, Eastern Kentucky at #10. That's ahead of Montana (#12), Furman (#16) and Cal Poly (#14), among others. In his defense, Nielsen says he didn't study for this test.

EDIT (1:06 p.m.): Missed one this morning from the Gadsden Times (it was at the bottom of the page, that's my only excuse). The story examines JSU's plans for an upgrade of Paul Snow Stadium and a higher profile in I-AA.
