Ray Melick earns a measure of redemption in my eyes for a short piece in the Birmingham News' Sports Buzz section. Melick writes of the NCAA's consideration of a change to Division I football subclassification names. He uses all the appropriate nomenclature correctly, even "I-A"

John Pruett, a columnist for the Huntsville Times, says the late Birmingham News sportswrtier Jimmy Bryan will show up in the afterlife supporting Jax State. Bryan apparently was buried in a JSU golf shirt, and with the JSU lapel pin from AD Jim Fuller's coat.
